Sunny Monday
Today finds me busy and counting down the days until the Appel and Frank Spring Show, and working through my list of things to do in preparation for that.
I was so excited to get my website up last week, and many people were very kind to take a look at it and respond with feedback. One really interesting piece of feedback was actually regarding this blog, and that it may diminish the professionalism of my website/company image and what I'm trying to accomplish. I am seriously considering this as I progress, because I want to put the most polished foot forward. My hope for this blog was that it would serve as a venue to create a relationship with the public and my customers and help to create a personality for sophie says go !. I know that I really enjoy reading blogs by other small business owners and designers that discuss their adventures in launching and running their customers. Of course it is possible that the average customer out there is not interested in such things. I will be thinking about this as I move forward, and I'd love to hear any other opinions on this matter.

ugh! i wonder if i expressed my comment clearly... i think that you may want to accomplish something different than I thought with your website (like you said, it's not meant to be your main selling venue).
knowing me, a shopper in the best/worst (in Edward's mind) sense, i know that when i buy something online, i don't want to know about the nacent, humble beginnings unless it's because now they are a success. sheep-like, I tend to look for the "as seen in In Style!" links. but that's just me! baaaa!
I think that is a really valid comment/view, and I bet that there might be a lot of potential customers out there who feel the same way (i.e. "as seen in...", and not interested in the "growing pains"), which is why I want to think about the tone of my blog carefully, and what I'm trying to accomplish.
I'd keep your blog exactly the way it is, but make a one way relationship between the sites.
People will come to your blog to see the highs/lows of starting a business and click on a link to your site to buy bags. That doesn't mean that your commerce site needs a link back to the blog showing these travails to your already secured potential clients.
I might be missing the point but I think the goal is to get them to the commerce site.
First I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond. I was resistant to switching over to the new Blogger tool, and so didn't sign in for a while. ( I know, stupid, but I just didn't want yet another [google] account).
Anyway, I wanted to say that after the Appel and Frank show, Tim and I will be reviewing the website and what we want to accomplish with it. Some questions that arose: 1)Who are we trying to reach? Who is are target market? 2)What do those people want?
Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I appreciate your taking the time to read my blog and make comments.
